When you live in a seasonal climate and summers are short (by some standards) this is the most wonderful time of year — vacation planning, trips, adventure and learning. And our first outting of the summer proved to have all of these elements and more.
With travel trailer in tow, we thought we were headed off to a one week camping trip in Bellevue, OH with Cedar Point (and a suprise “Mystery Guest“) being the main attractions. But in the end, that was just a small sampling of what was to come…
Now don’t get me wrong, two 12 hours days at Cedar Point - one of which we were joined by someone very special that I will reveal shortly - provided some incredible memories. You see, our oldest daughter, the 6 year old thrill seeker of the family grew to 48″ this winter (with a little help from her shoes
) and if you know anything about roller coasters, THAT is the first milestone in a young life (or at least in the life of a child who knows no fear and wants to ride everything that goes upside down, around and extremely fast!)
So this year, Cedar Point was a must — after all, it IS the roller coaster capital of the world and of 17 coasters there were only about 5 she couldn’t ride! And ride we did – until we dropped! Even our youngest (who at 4 years old, still doesn’t share her sister’s thrill seeking nature) spent a large part of the day with daddy AND Snoopy — not sure which one was more fun! LOL
After our first day at Cedar Point, things appeared to be going pretty much according to plan. But the next day, a nasty storm rolled through and took our trailer awning with it - not to mention a lightning strike up at the campground office that blew out chunks in their floor and cause and early demise to a multitude of electronics.
Next thing you know, we were on the phone with the insurance company, waiting for a service tech, and wondering how this would impact our plans.
As it turned out, our “one week” turned into two as we awaited the adjuster, parts and so on… but the story doesn’t end there! You see, we had NO PROBLEM staying for two weeks! I don’t just mean that we didn’t mind staying, what I mean is that is posed no problem whatsoever to simply shrug and say, “sure, we can hang out and keep on doing what we do at home…”
Ah… see where we are going with this? That’s right, we work from home so we can just as easily work on the road and go with the flow. With our wifi setup and both of our laptops, it was business as usual. We had no employer to return to, no job that was waiting, no loss of income… zippo!
Chances are YOU didn’t even know we were gone, did you?
We learned first hand what we’ve always said, that we can run our online business from anywhere and this year, for summer vacation #1, we proved it!
But the excitement doesn’t end here…. What about that Mystery Guest, and what else did we discover and where are we headed next….? STAY TUNED as we will reveal all - including Pictures!
