You hear a lot from marketers about how beneficial offline events are and Greg and I couldn’t agree more. But don’t think that you are limited only to offline events. A little talking and research will usually reveal one or more marketers in your own backyard or close to places you may be visiting for one reason or another.

In our case, we noticed that Mike Paetzold was smack dab in our path as we were driving from New York to North Carolina and we wanted to make sure we took advantage of the opportunity to meet the master blogger up close and personal. You may recall that Marina did a podcast with Mike’s partner Erik while we were in San Francisco, so she was really looking forward to meeting her buddy too! So we were all pretty excited…

We met Mike for lunch just five minutes off the highway in Pennsylvania and two hours later we parted with some great insight into the man behind the Word Press Blogging empire we know him for! A few weeks before our meeting, we shared one of Mike’s products with our subscribers the minute we got our hands on “7 Tips To Make Your Word Press Blog Search Engine Friendly” and after a short talk with Mike, it’s clear that his knowledge of blogging is off the charts! We were impressed with the product, but were blown away with the “man behind the product!”

And so it goes… another marketer who was previously a JV partner that we only knew through emails, chats and the written word, took on a whole new life when we got to know him in person, swap stories and share a bite to eat! You can bet that we will make sure our future travels include such stops too - it’s time well spent to get to know your online friends, and you never know what may come of such meetings!

Next up was some pure rest and relaxation in North Carolina as we continued our month of travel and headed to the wedding of our best friend and best man from our own wedding! Stay tuned…
