Christopher Knight and the EzineArticles Team are just simply a class act! More importantly though, they have demonstrated a keen awareness about marketing and customer retention that serves as a model for us all to follow.
Yesterday in the mail I recieved a coffee mug with a note from Chris, “Thanks for being an EzineArticles.com Platinum-level author!” is how the note started. It went on to express appreciation for my contributions to his site and the excitement of what 2007 will bring.
EzineArticles is one of my favorite sites for article submissions and I recommend it to all of my customers. But now, with each recommendation I have a story to tell. Will I pass on to others the story of this gesture? You bet I will! Is this marketing genius? Yep, sure is!
There is a lesson to be learned here. Chris didn’t invent some hot new widget, nor did he come up with a unique, never before tried marketing technique; to the contrary, he simply employed some good old fashioned business savvy and it worked. It works for him and it will work for you.
When was the last time you sent a token of appreciation to your customers or clients? Even if it isn’t as elaborate as a custom imprinted mug, there are many other things you can do to let the people who are responsible for your business success know that you care. A simple ”thank you,” an ecard, a blog post to acknowledge them… there are many ways to express appreciation and the act of kindness goes a long way.
Hat’s off to Chris for remembering the basics. It is what makes some Internet Marketers rise to the top! Will you be next?
