Freedom and Opportunity Reflections on Independence Day

As the U.S. focuses it’s attention on Independence and 4th of July celebrations today, I am reflecting on the universal concepts of seizing opportunity and celebrating freedom that Internet Marketing provides - ideals that know no borders and can be shared worldwide.

Are you taking advantage of the opportunity that surrounds you?

Let me give you an example that begins with the photo shown here of me and Carl Galletti at his recent Internet Marketing Super Conference. Originally, we were attending as invited VIPs to the 4 day event here in Las Vegas that included speakers the likes of Willie Crawford, Michel & Sylvia Fortin, Doug Champigny, Stu McLaren, Greg Cesar and more. A line up of top notch marketers who provided an opportunity to network indeed!

But for Greg and I, on day 3 of the event it turned into even more of an opportunity…

At the end of the third day, Carl announced that the final speaker of the event was unable to make it and reviewed the schedule change with the attendees before ending the day on Saturday. No sooner than the words were out of Carl mouth and he jumped off the stage, I was up and on my feet. Without a second thought, I approached Carl and offered to fill the vacant speaking slot. And before you knew it, I had seized an opportunity to grace the stage of this prestigeous event in it’s 10th year and could proudly claim a spot at the podium.

Sure, I could have sat back, let the opportunity pass, and crawled into bed early that night after a long day, instead of burning the midnight oil and staying up long past midnight to get my Powerpoint presentation in order for the following day…

But when opportunity presents itself, I believe in doing whatever it takes to capitalize and as a result I had the honor of closing the 4 day event with a motivational recap of what the attendees had just experienced after four intense days and turning their thoughts to how they could best capitalize on what they’d be taking home with them and the paths their future would take. I also got an opportunity to preview one of my new presentations in the process and gain valuable exposure live on stage. Opportunity indeed!

Likewise, there is opportunity all around you and forging ahead to seize it will serve to accelerate the freedom you are seeking as you pursue your Internet Marketing endeavors.

Freedom to set your own schedule, pursue your passions and carve out the life of your dreams!

We are but a few hours away from having another marketer join us here in Vegas for 2 days of holiday and birthday (Greg’s birthday is tomorrow - whoohoo!) celebrations. The marketer is Paul Klein, and he’s packed up his lovely wife and 2 boys in the car to make a drive from Utah to be with us. Seizing the opportunity to meet with us in person for two days to explore his online endeavors, discover how to take his online business to the next level, and create an exit strategy from his J.O.B.

Sure, it would have been far easier for the Kleins to sit at home, light a few sparklers today, and let the opportunity pass them by. But these eager entrepreneurs are crossing hill and mountain (literally) in the heat of the day to pursue their dreams and we will stand waiting on this end to support them along the way. Yes, their freedom is that important to them and they are willing to go to whatever extent necessary to make their family dreams come true.

So now what about you? What are you doing today to make your own dreams come true? How have you seized opportunity or taken advantage of your freedom on this great day of celebrating our independence? Leave a comment below with an example and perhaps you too will inspire someone else to greatness along the way!

Following are some additional pictures of the Internet Marketing Super Conference… enjoy!

Above pictured are Michel & Sylvie Fortin (top) and Doug Champigny (we finally met after all this time!) with me and Greg on the bottom. What a delight it was to meet the Fortins and spend time with Doug and his wife Teri. There is no substitute for the bonds that are formed when you finally meet in person at live events!

Greg with Carl during a break (top) at the 10th annual Internet Marketing Super Conference, and on the bottom, we are honored with Willie and Nancy Crawford who joined us for dinner 2 days after the event. What a wonderful time we had getting to know the Crawfords outside of a formal event setting and spending time relaxing at a quite Italian restaurant off the strip. Freedom indeed!

Don’t forget to leave a message below… and Have a Happy 4th of July if you are in the US, and for all our friends and family worldwide - take a moment to reflect on what opportunity you have before you and how you can catapult that to your own personal freedom!

Hi Stephanie, Greg, Marina & Morgan

    I hope you’re having a great family day :)
(We’ve just lit a BBQ to celebrate some rare English sunshine…lol)

Would now be a good time to claim the country back on behalf on Her Majesty?…lol
Actually - I’ve seen the budget deficit — so we’ll let you keep it …hehe

Seriously - Have a great day to all my U.S.A. Friends.

As for me… My part time DJing came to an end last weekend - so this is my first friday night out and totally relying on my IM income…. so it is a sort of “Indepenence Day” for me too :)

    Onwards & Upwards

    Best regards
    Randy

    Hi Stephanie,

About 9 months ago I decided I wanted to leave the corporate world to follow my passion of helping others.

About 6 months ago I decided to take that dream seriously. :)

And now, every night I spend about 2-4 hours continuing to build my network of websites, create ebooks, and other online business building strategies to make that dream a reality.

All while keeping my day job… which is actually ‘funding’ my rapid growth. If I were to go out on my own right now, I’d have to be a lot more concerned about my budget for things like advertising and outsourcing.

So for me, having the corporate job is actually making it easier to pursue my dream every single day!

Hey Steph and Greg, and girls,

Hope you had a blast and made some great friends at IMSC. It’s great to see you all being able to live your dream and travel around the country at will. I’m sure it is a great experience for the girls. How fortunate for them to be exposed to all these great people at such a young age. As for me, I am still working to get my internet efforts off the ground, but keep plugging away at it knowing one day things will start to turn around for me. My best to you all.

    Paul

    Hi Stephanie,

Thank you, Greg, Marina and Morgan for EVERYTHING! We had a blast, and lit off more than the obligatory sparklers, didn’t we??!!

We appreciate all that you helped with, and look forward to venturing with you soon again. Your generosity and hospitality are second to none!

As for the drive in the summer heat, how could we possibly pass up the opportunity to “roast marshmallows” with the Mulac Crew?

As life would dictate, I intended to reply sooner (Friday or yesterday), but today will suffice.

It’s nice to know we hadn’t been too far “off the mark” yet. Just some fine-tuning, and we’ll be on our way. And we have you to thank! (Don’t worry, we WILL be getting “even” soon!) LOL

Enjoy the rest of the “two week stay” in Vegas!

    Hugs all around!

Sometimes you are born into Opportunity, that is, you have inherited your families wealth and people bring you opportunities on a regular basis.

Very often you are not born into a situation that has very many opportunities - in the way we think of these things in the US. Perhaps you were born in Africa and will stay in and with one village for your entire life.

But sometimes we can feel the excitement when something has touched us and we believe that others will also be touched. That is the moment of opportunity. That is the time to seize the moment, to believe in yourself, to try again, to make yourself proud.

    God Bless America,

    Hi Stephanie,

This was a very interesting post.

And you are absolutely right. The majority of marketers complain about that there are not enough opportunities for them.

But that’s not true. There are always more than enough opportunities surrounding us. The bad thing is that we are either to preoccupied to notice them, or, if a opportunity is showing up, we just don’t take the action necessary to take advantage of it.

So, why don’t we action? Sometimes it’s just plain laziness (but that’s not us ;-) ), in other cases it’s out of fear, because of low self-esteem and low self-confidence, etc.

And last but not least, there is one reason most people never think of. The goal (desire) they are trying to achieve is simply not motivating and inspiring enough to go the whole nine yards!

    Best regards,
    Peter R. Sherman
