Grand Canyon, Sedona and Internet Marketing Travels

One of the greatest benefits of our Internet Marketing travel to offline events, beyond the networking opportunities are the little side trips we take with the girls. And when we found out that we were speaking at Ross Goldberg’s Marketing Masters event in Las Vegas, it was logical for us to extend our trip for a few weeks (or so it seemed at the time LOL). So after we spoke, we headed to Laughlin, NV to visit with my Uncle as well as Flagstaff Arizona to see the Grand Canyon… and that’s when all of the adventures began!

We were only able to stay in Laughin for 4 days before we had to relocate during superbowl weekend, because the hotels had been booked solid for months. But that was fine, we wanted to be closer to Grand Canyon and Sedona anyway so we planned to spend just the weekend in Flagstaff, AZ. We made it to the Grand Canyon, as well as a fabulous 4 hour dinner and meetup with Richard Wing and his wife Paula.

But then… the next morning it was snowing a “little” when we woke up. This was the day we planned to go to Sedona, so we double checked the weather and Uh, Oh! Seems like the Flagstaff area was in for a bit of snow - 20″ to be exact that fell (and fell, and continued to fall) in 24 hours! Snowbound in Flagstaff, cancelled the hotel for the night we were supposed to return back to Laughlin, what is one to do? Well, what any exhausted marketer would do at that point… I hung out at the jacuzzi and the sushi bar and “r-e-s-t-e-d!” Guess I needed it anyway!

So after the roads opened, we proceeded to Sedona, and continued on to Laughlin, only to discover when we arrived that they had inadvertantly cancelled our entire remaining 4 nights, instead of just the first night we were snowbound. A little “diplomacy” later, we finally got settled in.

After more fun in Laughlin and visits with my Uncle, we headed back to Las Vegas for our final three night night stay at the Luxor (jacuzzi room in the pyramid and all!) before flying home. But despite all the wonderful sights and visits, and some great hotels too, I found 3 weeks on the road and 5 hotels more than I could handle. The last thing I was heard to say before leaving Vegas was, “That’s it! We are getting the motorhome now!” Stay tuned for how it all unfolded…
